The whole purpose of The Peaceful Haven is to encourage you, the reader to follow wholeheartedly after Jesus.  To not do what is right in your own eyes but to follow what God has written in His Word and in doing so find truth and happiness.  It is my prayer that this Scripture series will be a tool in accomplishing this goal in your and my life.

A fun tidbit of information is that the background of this print is a photograph of vintage wallpaper…enjoy!

FREE Printable Philippians 1:21

What does Philippians 1:21 mean? What does “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” mean?  Not just a pat answer that simplifies the verse into a list of right and wrong. Here is a FREE Printable of Philippians 1:21 to help.

Spurgeon is a marvelous wordsmith and has been an instrument in drawing me to the Lord many a time!  Listen to what he has to say about the topic.

According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death. For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

Again I bid you remark on Paul’s devotion and self-forgetfulness. It seems to be a matter of no choice with him whether he serves God in life or glorifies him in death. The emblem of the American Baptist Missionary Union is an ox standing between a plow and an altar, with the motto, “Ready for either,”—Ready to spend and be spent in labor, or to be a sacrifice, whichever the Lord pleases.

Since we are all different people with different calls on our lives.  It appears to me the key is in the relationship we have with Christ.  Do we spend time with Him, or do we listen? Are we willing to listen and be poured out for Him who gave His life for us?

Proverbs 9:10 FREE Printable

Hi, Friends,  Here is a beautiful FREE Printable of Proverbs 9:10.  This verse has been one of my life verses reminding me that in order for me to seek the wisdom of God I must first fear Him and know Him. I have heard some describe the fear of the Lord as a healthy respect and I agree.  However, it is also so much more than that!

The Fear of the Lord is in the Old Testament used as a designation of true piety (Prov. 1:7; Job 28:28; Ps. 19:9). It is a fear conjoined with love and hope and is therefore not a slavish dread, but rather filial reverence. (Comp. Deut. 32:6; Hos. 11:1; Isa. 1:2; 63:16; 64:8.) God is called “the Fear of Isaac” (Gen. 31:42, 53), i.e., the God whom Isaac feared.

A holy fear is enjoined also in the New Testament as a preventive of carelessness in religion and as an incentive to penitence (Matt. 10:28; 2 Cor. 5:11; 7:1; Phil. 2:12; Eph. 5:21; Heb. 12:28, 29).

I made this graphic using vintage wallpaper as a base.  There is something so lovely about the faded colors, a peacefulness that adds to the verse.  Please feel free to frame this Bible verse as a daily reminder of the goodness of God.

This week let us join together and meditate on God’s Word together…
