I was walking in my garden yesterday to see how many flowers were in bloom.  It is an ever-changing landscape in Spring and new plants are growing, blooming and seeds are emerging from the dark soil.  Spring is my favorite season of the year and brings me such joy.  Imagine my surprise when I saw one of my plants infested with aphids!  I can’t believe it’s time to break out my Homemade Organic Garlic Pesticide Spray.  It is though, and I know of nothing as effective as my spray for getting rid of pests.

I first read about the use of garlic to reduce pests in the garden at least 20 years ago.  It wasn’t until five years ago that I decided to make my own.  I was watching a DVD on the Queen of England’s gardens and how she uses a natural garlic pesticide spray on all her roses.  If it is good enough for the Queen then it is good enough for me!   And so I started making this EASY and EFFECTIVE garden spray.

Natural Garlic Plant Spray1

Homemade Organic Garlic Pesticide Spray

This wonderful garden spray is chemical-free and contains no harmful ingredients.  Most importantly it is organic, effective, and safe!  Get the kids involved in the project by making the garden spray together and letting them spray the plants.   Learning a new skill and doing something together is always a win..win in my opinion.

Ingredients

1 gallon of water

10 drops of cedarwood essential oil

1/2 cup of organic garlic powder

Directions

  1. Combine the garlic powder and a gallon of warm water in a large pot and bring it to a boil so that the garlic powder dissolves. Let the mixture cool.
  2. Store the garlic mixture in an old milk jug or in several glass jars.
  3. Shake the garlic water combination well and add 10 drops of cedarwood essential oil to the mixture.
  4. Store in the gallon jug. Pour the Natural Garlic Pesticide Spray into a spray bottle and spray on the affected leaves of your plants.

YOUR TURN…

How do you get rid of the bugs in the garden?

Blessings,
