I’m so excited! This one tip will save you a ton of money on food and groceries. Yep, it’s meal planning!

There is nothing so stressful as not having enough money to purchase all the groceries you need!  Trust me, I’ve been there! To avoid this happening to you, it’s best to make some time to create a budget. Eliminate wants and spend money on needs.  It’s amazing how much peace you will have in your life by instituting a budget!

Making a meal plan not only saves you money but also time. I am all about simplifying all areas of my life. It’s an easy life hack is to meal plan and shop with a grocery list. Planning meals for the week and sticking to a grocery list prevents impulse buys and reduces food waste, saving you significant money over time.

This One Tip Will Save You A Ton Of Money On Food And Groceries

  • Evaluate Your Week: Check your schedule and plan family meals based on time availability. Use quick recipes for busy days, more elaborate ones for relaxed days. Account for leftovers to avoid overbuying.
  • Food Inventory Check: Before planning, review your pantry, fridge, and freezer. I use the Pantry Principle to save even more money! Use what you already have to minimize waste and unnecessary purchases.
  • Balance Variety For Health: Choose a mix of proteins, veggies, and carbs for good nutrition, but limit recipes to one or two new ones per week. Cook more than you need and reuse ingredients across dishes (e.g., chicken for stir-fry and tacos) to save money and time.
  • Batch Prep and Freeze: Cook in bulk for multiple meals or prep ingredients, for example, chopped veggies or marinated meat, ahead. Freeze extras in portioned containers for quick future meals. This reduces takeout temptation.
  • Stick to Your Grocery List and Budget: Write a grocery list based on your meal plan, and organize the list by store sections to avoid impulse buys. Know your budget and prioritize seasonal or on-sale items to maximize savings. Shop the weekly flyers for loss leaders!
