OK, let’s talk about the sometimes crazy moments of motherhood where things explode into chaos.  As a mom of six, I have been in that moment quite a few times. The dog gets loose again because my autistic daughter thinks it’s funny to open the door meanwhile, a toddler is “putting on makeup” using a permanent marker.   Here are 3 Family Routines That Restore Calm!

Childhood behavior is often harmless and hysterically funny! It is so good to laugh with our kids.  However, as with all relationships, behaviors can be hidden with strong emotions.  If emotions are not dealt with, they can fester, causing lasting damage to the heart and relationship.  Things like sibling rivalry, anger, and selfishness from our children and even ourselves easily go unchecked if we are not careful.

In an incident of disobedience please pause and slowly deal with it.  Employ active listening and use a whispered voice.  Never and I mean never discipline a child in anger.  I can tell you from experience it never goes well and you can permanently damage the relationship with your child. Jesus is your ever-present help in times of trouble.  Pause, Pray, Listen, and then discipline in love.

After you have dealt with the root cause of the chaos choose one of these simple options to reset your day.

3 Family Routines That Restore Calm

So many things that happen in life are a matter of perspective.  In the moment of childhood antics, it seems as if the world is ending.  Looking back on those chaotic moments many years later, we find ourselves laughing with joy!

In a world that is spiraling out of control with busyness, make sure to prioritize time with your husband, children, extended family, and church family.  Christ-Centered Slow Living provides a way to do this. We see in God’s Word that “right” relationships are a priority in His kingdom. The mark of a Christian is Biblical love and it gently drips out of His children everywhere they go.
