Which church do you attend?

That was the question that entered my mind last Sunday.  I have no idea why I was thinking about this topic but since I was unable to go to church because of a cold.  I decided to do a study on the churches in Revelation.  I took several pages of notes and also spent some time in prayer.  A question began to formulate in my mind, which church do I attend?  This is what I came up with…

Praise-Worthy Traits of the Church

  • good works (4x)
  • patient endurance (4x)
  • did not deny the faith (3x)
  • toiled on behalf of God
  • hated what is evil
  • were able to identify false teachings
  • did not grow weary
  • endured poverty
  • endured slander and persecution
  • displayed love
  • stood fast in their faith
  • held true to the name of Christ

Do you recognize any of these traits in your church or in yourself?

If you do, then thank God for his faithfulness in you and the body of believers that you are with.

Need to repent of…

  • the practice and acceptance of sexual immorality (2x)
  • worshiping idols (2x)
  • abandoned God as their first love
  • held to the teachings of other religions and incorporated them into Christianity
  • dead in their faith
  • incomplete works
  • lukewarm faith
  • the belief that they didn’t need God because of their wealth and prosperity.

Which church do you attend?

How about now?  Do you recognize any of these characteristics in your church?  Be Honest,  how about yourself?

Two Key Points

Every Church is imperfect.

Repentance is the key to a healthy church or a healthy person.

YOUR TURN…

How do you think the American church is doing?  Which church do you attend?

  1. You know I’m a Roman Catholic and all those points apply, except to add we believe in the True Presence of Christ in the Eucharist (and Confession, not just repentance). We pray for a universal Church…

    1. Good point Barbara…thanks for taking the time to comment!

    2. Repentance cannot occur without personal confession to God, through our Advocate, Jesus Christ. This should be done daily, not at some appointed time before a priest.

  2. I attend a 4 Cs church, and wholly believe in and do not deviate with the Five Solas. A reformed church, though the 4 Cs cover an umbrella of churches, so being a reformed church is not a requirement, per se of that organization.

  3. I appreciate you sharing this awesome page. It’s definitely helped me.

    1. Thank you Asa, I am so glad you found it helpful!
