Protecting Our Family From Internet Predators is profoundly important.   My son was 10 when he clicked on a comment in a children’s Lego site that led him to a pornographic site. We had an internet safety protection service but it didn’t work to protect our son.  Now, we use this experience to teach and train our son.  What was an evil intention, allowed us to have a critical parenting conversation.

As a mother of 6 children, 5 of whom are still living at home.  It is NOT an option to NOT have protection on my computers, cellphones, and social media.  Electronic devices are part of our daily lives.  We use them for school, work, research, and fun in my home.

Protecting Our Family From Internet Predators

Did you know?

  • Most kids are first exposed to porn at less than 11 years of age.
  • An unsolicited image is the beginning of a long battle with porn addiction?
  • 1 in 5 children ages 10-17 has been approached for sex online.
  • 57% of kids have accidentally accessed inappropriate material online.
  • 75% of these young people do not tell their parents about these incidents.
  • The porn industry is now the 7th largest industry in the U.S.?
  • Unprotected Internet access can lead to identity theft, cyber-bullying, and social network dangers.

What happens in the privacy of a cell phone or computer can affect everyone in the family. Young children are not generally malicious, but they are curious and trusting. Kids innocently and easily get into trouble online without awareness of the consequences. They need protection from others and themselves.

Oh, how I wish with all my heart that we did not live in a world where things like pornography existed.  But it does and we must not hide from the issue but interact with the fact with wisdom.

There are many excellent Internet Protection Programs that are easy to install and set up with tons of options for parental controls.  You decide all the settings for your family.  You can select settings based on each individual family member’s age, internet needs, person’s interests, or temptations.  Parents can block and add sites that you wish to allow.  It is as simple as copying the address and clicking the add or block button.

For our family, we chose the Net Nanny Family Protection Pass which is the#1-Rated Internet Filter.  This is by far the highest value and thoroughly covered all our computers and devices with internet access for one low yearly fee.

Here are just some of the features Net Nanny supplies.

In closing, I want to encourage you to think about this very important issue.  How can we protect our children on the internet?  It is not an issue we can choose to ignore.  We must protect the people we love.    If you do not use an internet protection system.  Please take a moment today to contemplate the consequences of not having one.

YOUR TURN…
What internet protection service do you use and are you pleased?
