It is time for a New Year’s refresh for your home!  Renewal of all sorts is the theme we hear throughout every genre.  Get healthier, get more organized, get your finances in order. This is easier said than done.   Here are 3 frugal ways to update your home decor in the new year.

I find in life that simple, gentle changes are the ones that last. When we try to change too much of our lives at the same time, it just doesn’t work.  Overwhelm occurs, which then leads to stress.

There are three ways to update your home. Why not pick one for today and return tomorrow and pick another?  If picking even one task feels overwhelming, then why not start with making one small corner of your home beautiful? Slow and simple always wins the day.

3 Frugal Ways To Update Your Home Decor In The New Year

Refresh with Paint

Repaint a room, a single accent wall, or update furniture with paint (I like spray paint or chalk paint) to completely change the mood.

Use inexpensive spray paint on frames, vases, baskets, or lamps you already own to create a cohesive color palette without buying new decor.

Paint the floor with a checkered pattern or a solid color over worn flooring.

Rotate, DIY, and Thrift

Rearrange throw pillows, blankets, and curtains from room to room to make spaces feel refreshed without spending a dime.

If you can sew a straight line, stitch simple envelope pillow covers or basic curtain panels, and supplement with low-cost finds from the thrift store.

Bring out a seasonal collection to brighten a room.

Plants and Simple Styling

Add a few houseplants or propagate cuttings to add color and texture to any room.

Restyle shelves and tabletops using books, candles, or baskets you already have. Small objects that you love can be styled into frugal decor.

Declutter to create a fresh, curated look.

The key is to be creative and have fun!
