Are you looking for Simple Short Christian Book Reviews?  Tada!  Here are this month’s book reviews and I sincerely hope you and your family will enjoy them as much as I did.

It is an encouragement to me to know that there are still GOOD BOOKS being written.  Both in content and literary style.  It would be an injustice to think that authors today are not as talented as in the past, that would be a mistake.   Yes, I think there are many more sub-par books than excellent ones but then that is the point.  Excellence has to be searched for and mined until you find it.

It is my hope that these books will challenge you and encourage you in your role as a wife, mother, homemaker, and teacher.

Simple Short Christian Book Reviews

LIFESTYLE

Crazy Busy: A (Mercifully) Short Book about a (Really) Big Problem.   Do I really need to say why everyone in America today should be reading this book?  Busyness is a national epidemic and this book is a must-read for anyone who desires to put a stop to it and to see how Satan is using your busyness to sidetrack you from serving God.  Let’s face it, the next generation (our kids) are suffering because we are not giving them enough attention.

FICTION

A Voice in the Wind (Mark of the Lion) is a beautiful and disturbing literary work about a young Christian woman in Rome.  Historically accurate and a pleasure to read every single line.  Check out the next two books in the series as well.  An Echo in the Darkness (Mark of the Lion Book 2) and As Sure As the Dawn (Mark of the Lion Book 3).  Well worth the time you will spend reading these gems!

HOME DECOR

Patina Farm is well, charming!  Best of all, there are 200 photographs plus architectural drawings for inspiration, their materials selections, and the enviable result of their team effort and creativity: an idyllic farm in California’s Ojai Valley. We see every corner of the family home, guesthouse, lush gardens, and delightful animal quarters.

Sweetly Stitched Handmades: 18 Projects to Sew for You and Your Loved Ones will inspire you to take the time to create!  These are sweet projects for your home and family.  There are plenty of ideas for gifts too!  All I have to say is…HAVE FUN!

GARDENING

The Seed Garden: The Art and Practice of Seed Saving is an incredibly photographed Garden Primer!  A must-have for every serious gardener as well as for the beginner. Well, basically everyone will benefit from this book.  Use it as a homeschool textbook for Botany.    This is the best book for learning how to save seeds that I have read.  Well written and easy to understand!

FAITH

Becoming a Woman of Freedom is the third book in Cynthia Heald’s “Becoming” series.  Reading this Bible Study, “Becoming a Woman of Freedom” has changed me and I am looking forward to finishing every single book in the series!  I urge you to take the time to study God’s Word through this well-crafted study.

HOMESCHOOL

Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons is how I taught each of my children to read, even my daughter that is autistic and my other daughter that has dyslexia.  Need I say more?  This program works!  Add a phonics primmer to make it complete.

CHILDREN

The Princess and the Kiss is an enchanting tale for children about purity.  The illustrations are attractive and contribute to the storyline.  This book is now “dog eared” at my house.  I encourage you to purchase it for your children.  They will ask you to read and re-read this exceptional story.

  1. Great book list, Janelle! I’m especially intrigued by Crazy Busy–yes, I need to read it– and Speed Decorating. I need help de-cluttering for sure. Doing it now in preparation to vacate our home in turkey 9 months. 🙂

    1. Thanks for your comment Betsy! I am so pleased you found a few of the books helpful. I will be praying for you as you work towards closing your home in Turkey…just the thought makes me tired 🙂
