Value Penguin researched how much the average American monthly clothing expenses were and released its findings in April 2021.  It found that the average adult spends about $134 (that’s $1,604 per year). 10 Genious Tips On How To Shop The Thrift Store

1,  Make a list of items you are looking for on your smartphone.

2.  Dress for the occasion, wear comfortable shoes, and bring a water bottle and snacks, especially if you are bringing the kids with you!

3.  Make it a treasure hunt!

4.  Shop with cash only to avoid impulse buys.

5.  Fully examine items before purchasing them.  Check for stains, abrasions, and tears.

6.  Scan the isles and make yourself acquainted with the thrift store you are in.  Is there a tag sale system?  Where are the bathrooms?

7.  Make friends with the thrift store staff.

8.  Put anything you are interested in purchasing in your cart and then pause to evaluate just before checking out.  Do you love it?  Do you actually need it?  Do you have space for it?  Put the items you decide not to buy back in the correct place.

9.  Relax and enjoy strolling the isles, looking at the beautiful, and laughing at the unusual.

10. If you need to better understand an item and what it is worth, stop to google it.

There are so many benefits of shopping at the thrift store!  Reduce waste, create one-of-a-kind outfits, find well-made brands for less, use the trip as a history lesson and lastly enjoy every single moment!
