What would your life look like if you obeyed the command to “BE STILL, and know that I am God.”?   Better yet, what would your marriage, and family life look like if you obeyed the command to BE STILL?

Let us examine what the opposite of the word still is, BUSY.  To be busy is having a great deal to do or to keep occupied.  I don’t always think that being busy is a bad thing but being too busy is.  Only you can know if you and your family are too busy.  You may want to examine things like whether or not you rush around,  how many activities are you or your family are involved in, are you keeping the Sabbath holy and committing the day to rest?

I believe that one of the most effective ways of Satan chooses to deceive and destroy the Christian family is by keeping them so busy with kinda good things that we forget what is really good, God.

“Be still, and know that I am God.

I will be exalted among the nations,

I will be exalted in the earth!”

-Psalm 46:10

As I sit on the beaches Outer Banks of North Carolina this week, I have experienced this beautiful phenomenon of being still!  Being Still before a Holy God is easy here at the ocean,  it has actually felt natural to stare at the ocean waves and be in awe of God.  God’s created world has the power to stop us in our tracks and make us BE STILL!

The question arises, will I be able to BE STILL and know that I am God when I return home?  I won’t be on vacation and my life is not always simple! But,  I want this act of worshiping God through stillness to continue to transform me.

I have thought of two ways that every person can take five or ten minutes out of your day to BE STILL and know that God is on the throne!

The sun rises and sets every single day!

How much time would we really lose if we were to stop what we are doing, ask our kids and husband to join us and watch the sunrise and the sunset on a daily basis?  I think that this awe-inspiring act that God puts on every single day is a great opportunity for each one of us to obey His command to BE STILL!  I think that this simple act of obedience has the power to transform our family and our relationship with God.

Now therefore stand still and see

this great thing that the Lord will do before your eyes.

-1 Samuel 12:16

Who is with me?

YOUR TURN…

What are your suggestions for BEING STILL on a daily basis?

Blessings,
