How do you take vitamins without nausea?  It’s a question I have been getting a lot lately.  People in general, have trouble taking pills and vitamins.  Swallowing them is an issue and so is nausea.   So how do you prevent nausea from happening and reap the benefits of supplements?

To be honest it has taken me a while to figure out…

I take a whole lot of supplements on a daily basis to help in my recovery of 7 different autoimmune diseases.  The vitamins that I take have been incredibly helpful in the healing of my body.  I would not even consider not taking them.   However, many people do not take the supplements that they need because the vitamins make them feel sick and upset their stomachs.  This is a real problem!

Without further ado…

How To Take Vitamins Without Nausea

The process is simple and I call it layering.

  1. I start by taking my probiotic before my meal with a glass of water.
  2. Next, I start to eat my meal.  (ALWAYS start with the food layer FIRST.)  For example, I eat yogurt and blueberries with ground flaxseed mixed together for breakfast most days.  I alternate two bites of yogurt then 2 vitamins swallowed with water.   I continue with this method of layering food and vitamins until I am finished with my pile of supplements.
  3. It is important to finish off the layering process with food.  I usually, end with at least 4 forkfuls or spoonfuls of food.  This prevents me from suffering from any nausea.

TIP:

For children who can’t swallow pills, crush vitamins, and mix well into a bowl of applesauce.  Layer the food and applesauce vitamin mixture.
