I agree with C. S. Lewis who said, “You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me.”  I suppose that is one of the many reasons I write Simple Short Christian Book Reviews!

If you are looking for excellent books and Christian book reviews?   Then this is your post!  I have waded through a huge amount of books this month and have thoroughly enjoyed every single minute!  Only a few made “the list” though,  I hope you will be encouraged to set aside a portion of your day to read and in so doing learn.

I would love to hear from each one of you.  What are your favorite books?  Please leave your recommendations in the comment section and I greatly appreciate your taking the time to write your suggestions.

HOMEMAKING

This well-written and well-researched book will inspire every woman who is a homemaker!  Margaret speaks to every aspect of home management and weaves a beautiful picture of homemaking as a way to worship God.  If that were not enough she tackles hard issues with grace and love and gave this reader a newfound appreciation and vision for keeping house!

FAMILY

I have lost count of the number of times I have read this book.  Excellent and thought-provoking and steeped in biblical truth!  If you have a family or are in full-time ministry then this book is for you!  I guarantee you will enjoy Voddie Baucham’s easy-to-read style of writing and how he explains scripture.

HISTORY

This book totally captured me!  I can’t even remember who recommended A Good Place to Hide but if it was you THANK YOU!  This book is an inspiration to all who are called to do good in a world that continues to have evil in it.  A Good Place to Hide has many characters, The town and region of Le Chambon France is the main character.  The consistent and sacrificial hospitality of the Protestant pastors and local farmers were the saviors of many heartbroken and displaced children and adults.    The number of Jewish refugees whose lives were saved by this town is estimated at 3,500!  An incredibly suspenseful story of how good triumphed over evil!  A good book to incorporate into your homeschool curriculum or for any person who loves to learn.  A MUST-READ!

SPIRITUAL

My daughter asked for and received this Bible Study for Christmas several years ago and I have been wanting to read it ever since.  Another great one from Cynthia Heald.  It is one of about a dozen books in this series about becoming a godly woman.  This book is life-changing and I don’t say that lightly.  Anytime you are deeply engaged in the Word of God you will be changed and this book beautifully guides you through the process.

COOKBOOK

This is the number 1 Autoimmune Cookbook on Amazon!  After reading through and trying many of the recipes I can see why.  This cookbook is not just for autoimmune sufferers but rather an excellent resource for all people who desire to live and cook for a healthy lifestyle!

FICTION

A must-read for every Christian!  How do you like that book review?  I would never have picked up this book on my own but it came highly recommended by many a godly individual that I had to pay attention to.  It is a story about China and America and two men from each country.  This book will keep you on the edge of your chair and encourage your faith!   Unlike anything, I have ever read before.

CHILDREN

My children have read and re-read this excellent series.  We HIGHLY recommend anything by C.S. Lewis but especially this group of intriguing and edifying books.  Read aloud, use as part of a British Literature Unit, or as an enjoyable way to pass the afternoon!

HOMESCHOOL

All my children have struggled with grammar. I am currently only homeschooling 2 of my 6 children…the rest are in college or out of college.  I made my 8th grader and my high school sophomore read this book giving them another resource to help them understand grammar.  They got it!  Grammar-Land is a fictional story about the parts of speech.  Some characters include Dr. Verb, Mr. Noun, and little Article.  This book is intended for elementary children but as you can see all ages will enjoy and benefit from this excellent book!

Included among the pages of this short devotional is an area to journal thoughts and prayers while reading this encouraging book.  This has been a deepening of faith experience for me and I hope it will be the same for you!
